Tim, I used the Clymer when adjusting my valves and
everything worked out fine. I don't know if it makes
a difference but it is odd that each manual would say
something different. If I hadn't done it the Clymer way,
I would always say go with the factory manual. so, for
what it's worth, the clymer manual way works.
